She was turned into a local animal shelter at the age of nine weeks, already microchipped, tattooed and spayed. GRRI was told that she had some serious medical problems, and our volunteer picked her up believing that she would be taking this little girl to be euthanized. Imagine her surprise when she saw a normal, spunky puppy! A vet check revealed a possible rear knee problem that may require surgery in the future, but otherwise she was declared healthy. After a few weeks of love and evaluation at a foster home, this energetic puppy was ready to find her forever family.
Meanwhile,
another GRRI rescue, Dr. Watson, had been asking his family
for a golden playmate. Dr. Watson's
family was told about this special puppy, and they felt they
could provide the medical care
she may need in the future. Dr. Watson even agreed to
share his swimming pool with the
puppy, in the interests of stress-free joint therapy, of course.
Now
named Shirley Holmes in keeping with the Watson/Holmes theme, this loveable pup's new
mom says she's a perfect match for Watson. They started playing when Shirley arrived and
have not stopped. She follows him everywhere, and Watson is teaching Shirley the joys of leaf-blowing
and barking at pumpkins.
