He was tied to a swing set his entire life, with his only shelter  a piece of plywood leaning against the metal frame. He didn't have a name, and his owners couldn't be bothered with vaccinations.

Neighbors finally called Animal Control, who immediately rescued this six month old pup and brought him to the Lincoln Veterinary Hospital. He was neutered and vaccinated, and then GRRI-NJ was called. Eileen McFadden, one of our volunteers, happened to be monitoring our hotline when the call came in. She agreed to pick up the pup and "foster" him until a suitable home was found.

It was love at first sight. This lovable little puppy has been named O'Hara. He now lives with Eileen and her husband Drew in Westchester County, New York, along with their other Goldens and  cats. His dingy, matted coat is now a beautiful shiny reddish-gold; the mats are gone and his feathers are growing. As the family veterinarian put it "He looks like a McFadden dog....you can't give him up!"  And of course, they never will!
