There's a saying that the third time is a charm, and that
was certainly true in Molson's case.
His first home kept him in the basement for 12-14 hours a day. They loved him but simply had no time for him. His second home loved him but had no idea how to obedience train a dog and ended up physically abusing him.
When he came to GRRI-NJ he was spinning from stress, extremely mouthy, suffering from slight separation anxiety and totally out of control. Several families came to see him but no one wanted to adopt him.
One of our volunteers and her husband were handling the adoption of another dog
when they met Molson and fell in love
with him.
Home he went to Westchester County, NY to meet their three other
Goldens (one another GRRI -NJ rescue dog, O'Hara) and their four cats. They started working on his dominance issues, put some structure in his life, and gave him plenty of love. Then
they got to work with a behaviorist and attended a dog desensitization class to help him get through his fear of other dogs (non-Goldens). He
did beautifully. His eyes shined,
his tail wagged, and his Golden grin appeared
on his face more and more.
All he needed was a chance and he got it.
With sadness, we note
that Molson has passed away.
