Hunter was rescued from a kill shelter in South Jersey the day before he was due to be euthanized. Why? Because no one wanted to adopt a dog who was blind in one eye. No one wanted to give this smart, affectionate pup a chance. The blindness didn't bother him at all…why should it bother anyone else?

Hunter moved in with one of our foster families while GRRI-NJ looked for the perfect family. He learned how to ring a bell when he wanted to go out, got a refresher course in basic obedience, and above all, got attention and love. He just blossomed.

Then GRRI-NJ heard from a family in Connecticut who was looking for a Golden. Their previous pal had died of cancer and they felt if was time to open up their hearts and home to a loving Golden who might not be as fortunate as some of the puppies and dogs from successful breeders.

It was love at first sight for everyone involved. Hunter now spends his days hiking, fishing and helping with the gardening. He has truly gotten a second chance at life.
