Homer's time was up when Golden
Re-Triever Rescue received the call that there was a stray
male at a veterinary hospital in northern New Jersey. This
emaciated, dirty, tick-infested male was due to be
euthanized that day because no one had claimed him. It was
obvious that he had been wandering the streets for
months.
His "savior" volunteer named him Homer
because he needed a home.
Golden Re-Triever volunteers dropped
everything to go save this little guy. He was brought to a
veterinarian for a thorough medical check-up, and then
brought to a kennel where he was groomed and kept for
observation. Then it was time to find him a new
home.
The response was overwhelming. His story
captivated the hearts of some truly wonderful people. But we
felt that one particular couple fit the bill for this
wonderful Golden. A couple with no children, who work from
home, with a fenced in backyard.
He has now gained weight so his ribs
don't show anymore. He goes hiking on weekends - on a leash
of course. His favorite hang out spot is in his backyard, in
the garden, under a big tree. He loves to sit on the front
stoop with his new owners and meet and greet the
neighborhood kids.
