He was a six-month old pup found wandering the streets in central New Jersey. He was dirty, hungry and lonely. Rescue took him in, neutered him, and placed him in what we thought would be his forever home. But that was not to be. His family couldn't deal with his  teenage-years  - that oh-so dreaded 9 months to a year period.  He was extremely hyper, mouthy, and out-of-control. So back to rescue he came.

But Guenther was obviously destined for better things. When we got a call from the Passaic County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit looking for a young male dog with a lot of play-drive, Guenther immediately came to mind. Tom Fahey came to evaluate him and declared him exactly what they were looking for. That was the start of Guenther's new career as a narcotics-sniffing dog with the Police Department!

Upon graduating from K-9 Academy, Guenther was declared the most dedicated service dog they've ever trained, and he made his first drug bust only 3 months after joining the force.  GRRI-NJ now has a standing order for other dogs just like him -- and we hope to do our best to fill it!

We wish both Tom and Guenther continued success and safety in their new life together.
