He weighed only 43 lbs when Golden Re-Triever Rescue saved this beautiful little 2-year-old male from a kill shelter in Newark, New Jersey. He was so thin his bones showed through his fur, and he had an obvious injury to his front right leg.

After a thorough examination and x-rays, vets determined that Cody had a compound fracture/dislocation. Because the injury was at least five weeks old, surgery was not an option.

That did not deter his new family from adopting this sweet little dog, nor has it deterred  Cody from having a sweet little life.

He's filled out, his coat is silky and shiny, his tail never stops wagging, and the tennis ball never leaves his  mouth.

Cody has found the good life at his forever home!
