She was languishing at a pet store, unable to walk and facing a very uncertain future when GRRI-NJ got the intake call. Having no idea what the problem might be, GRRI-NJ agreed to take the 12-week-old pup into our program. The first stop was the vet, where we learned that she'd fractured her leg and was suffering from kennel cough. The prognosis was that she was going to be fine. All she needed was time and care and a great loving home -- the kind that Kim and Karl Anderson, their two young sons and their dog Barkley, could provide.

Kim and her family have reported that Carmen is thriving. "I've had dogs all my life and never known any to be as loving as Carmen," says Kim. "And she's a stitch! She chases her tail, catches it and pulls so hard she knocks herself over! We're so happy to have her in our lives!"
