Scout, I miss you so
much buddy!!! Every time I see your picture by the computer I’m reminded
of how handsome and dynamic you were.

I remember that day I
got you in July of 1996 you were a 5 month old puppy and puppies of that
age were not so desired at the store, but you had character which I saw
right away. The honeymoon was short lived though as you were diagnosed
with hip dysphasia 4 weeks after I took you home. Within this short
period of time we had developed such a strong bond so there was only 1
option. The day after you had the corrective surgery I remember taking
you home and looking in awe at your half shaven body and those 7”
incisions on both hips. I can only imagine how painful it must have been
for you. I was touched by your courage each day when I walked into the
backyard with a towel under your belly in order to keep the weight off
your hind legs. I’ll never forget that day we locked eyes and I could
see your thankfulness in those big eyes of yours.

I remember the
endless summers you spent swimming or just sitting on the 2nd
or 3rd stair of the pool. You loved chasing your tennis ball
and sticks, each time we opened a car door you would get so excited
thinking you were going for a car ride, and you loved your monthly visit
to see Jeff at Paws A While for your grooming.

In December 2002 I
received the crushing news when you were diagnosed with lymphoma. During
that last winter we shared you were always eager to chase a ball or stick
no matter the hidden pain you carried. On March 16, 2003 you lost
your hard fought battle just shy of your 7th birthday and 5
months shy of us moving into our new home.
Thank you for all the
joy, laughs, and smiles you brought us all
