In
loving memory of our Candy—who taught us to be love and to enjoy the
sweetness of life.
She is the soft breeze rustling through the trees. She is
the dappled sunlight I see outside my bedroom window. She is the golden
warmth that surrounds us. I feel her everywhere, but miss the soft touch
of her fur and a kiss on her nose as she wags her tail looking into my
eyes saying, “I love you too”.
She was my Candy Girl, my Baby Girl, my Candy Cane, my
Sugar Pop, my Sugar Cookie, my Sugar Muffin, my Sweetie Pie, my Big Girl,
daddy’s Super Girl, our sweet beauty— our Candy.
I loved holding her face in my hands and kissing her on the
nose. I loved hugging her and saying “hugs for Candy!” while feeling her
warmth as her body weight fell into mine. I loved how if I laid down on
the floor, she would run to me and flip over on her side snuggling as
close to me as she could get.
I loved how she loved to play with a tennis ball even
though she couldn’t catch it in her mouth. I loved when we would, in slow
motion, show Candy how to catch the ball and how much she loved it. I
loved how she loved a good rabbit or squirrel chase and how she befriended
those in need. I loved when she would reach out to touch my forehead with
her paw and we would say “Candy Healing Paw!”. I loved her elegant gait
and the graceful way she moved. She was a refined creature—a lady true
and true.
I loved how tolerant and loving she was towards Jasper
letting him think he was charge or ahead, but she knew better and knew it
didn’t matter. She was above it all.
I love how she ruled the neighborhood with gentleness,
refinement and wisdom. She was wise beyond words and gentle to her core.
She was our golden girl—a gift from God who changed our
lives forever. She will never be forgotten.

soft breeze
rustling through the trees
dappled sunlight
gone is the night
she is everywhere
but nowhere in sight
shining from above
she is pure unbounded love
When the wind blows through the trees, I know she is
wagging her tail and looking down upon us with her big happy puppy dog
smile. She is so happy and so proud. And we are so proud of who she was
and the joy she brought into our lives. Every day we shared with her was
a dream.
